I think not!

Songs for a sunny day... Re-Do

How beautiful is this guy?
He grew up on a boat sailing around the Caribbean.
Really? Life can be like that? Who knewwwww?

Ghostworld

(photo from Dazed Digital)

Today's blog post features all the trippy music I was listening to in high-school.
I had to save up for all of my CDs and then transfer them to tapes for my walkman,
since I didn't have a portable CD player.
(Yes, I am that old. Surprise!)
Then I'd sit at home or in the art room or on the subway and just get lost in my sketch books.

You wouldn't believe the kinds of stuff I was drawing.
Vampire carrots, barfing caterpillars... Me, with dreds, hanging out topless in the midst of it all...

So let me take you on a little musical vacation.
Enjoy! and Happy Friday!

I saw Massive Attack live when I was in Hungary with Edie. They performed at the Sziget Festival.

Christiansands and the next song are both off of Tricky's album Pre-Millenium Tension.
So far my "blog-playlists" have been selections of songs that are the most popular, or the ones I feel would be the most accessable. Afterall, these forms of music may be totally new and nothing that you've heard of or experienced before, so I go easy.

But this next song, one of the lesser known treasures on the album, was so deeply embedded into my mind and I want to share it. The lyrics are morbid and sad, but it's nice, and foggy, and it seethes.
And when I hear it I go back to Grade 11.

Be Kind Please Rewind

My blog posts seem to be rewinding in time through music!
The next step is to post some funky late 90's house.
I remember hearing all of these songs then, but they weren't in the forefront of my mind.
In the late 90's I was exploring Massive Attack, Portishead, and jungle music.
I was also (and always) into rock, and severely crushing on Ani DiFranco.

But here are some totally classic late 90's house tunes for you to bounce to this Thursday afternoon.
Most of the work has been done for me, since Velociraptor posted a ton up already!
(RAAR RAAR means "thanks!" in dinosaur)

Got any Grapefruit?

I think it's time to start illustrating those children's books I wrote.

Tasty Tuesday

Here's a random selection of cute food!
It's a busy day, so this will have to be short and sweet!

This is what I look like when I get excited for grocery shopping:

A really pretty way to decorate gingerbread:

These cupcakes remind me of Ukrainian Easter Eggs and I found them here

Cute hamburger cupcakes found here

"Chihuahua with Cheeseburgers"by William Hundley

Cute tree stump cake made by Heidi Kenney of My Paper Crane

I bought some chocolate chips the other day. They are great when you crave chocolate because they are REALLY TEENY! and you just need a few.

That's all for now! Au Revoir, and have an awesome Tuesday!

Tasty Tuesday - Tasty in a different way

So, since I'm carrying on in this lovely musical vein,
the tastiness of this Tuesday is coming to
you in sonic form.

I've posted some of my fav trance songs, and then my fav electro songs
(are those really the categories? I know absolutely NOTHING about music categories!!)

And now I'll post some really fantastic way-back-play-backs... Classics, really...
Listen to them. Some of them may be new to some of you, but some might transport you to a wild summer in 1998 and I want to know about it!!!

I will always love this song.

Holy memories of New Years Eve when I drank too mcuh sambucca,
and now I can't drink any more sambucca

Music Mondays

A musical trip through sections of my life is an excellent topic for a blog post, but it would take me longer than one evening to write, so I'll just carry on the electronic theme and go with
CRUNCHY ELECTRO BEATS

I'll start you off with something cute, bouncy, and happy. I found this through Elizabeth!!

I found this song last summer when chilling with my homeslice Reuben, playing Settlers of Catan, drinking Manhattans, and getting into mischief.

I thank Peter for introducing me to this one:
**Steve Aoki's in Toronto May 28!!**

This song is AWESOME to dance to:

I found this song through TammySzu on Youtube. She has AWESOME tracks. I'm such a fan of hers.

And this last one is like a sweet dream.
It will forever remind me of Kage and last year's Pride festivities.

Headphones IN

If you havn't noticed by now, I love music.
... by "love" I mean LOVE...
Like all-consuming, in-me-with-every-breath, energizing, feel-it-in-your-naughty-bits, OhMyGodI'mGonnaGoCrazy kind of love...

I love discovering new songs and I play them over and over in my iPhone, and then I give them a break. There's such a revolving door of music that I literally have a chronological soundtrack to my life.
Everyone has songs that remind them of  various times and people, and that would make a really interesting blog post for tomorrow: Music Monday!

For now, I'll post all the deliciousness I've been zoning out to. Some new and some old.
I listen to, and appreciate, EVERYTHING but recently I've been getting heavy into:::::

This is an older tune, but I love to sing to it! And I remember shooting THIS PIC in Dominican Republic to it.
"In and Out of Love" - Armin Van Buuren feat. Sharon del Adel

And now this one is a good follow up song.
It makes me think about cruising with the windows open on a hot summer day:
"In My Memory" - DJ Tiesto

And THIS is a good follow up song to that one.
(My elderly computer's CD thing is broken so I can't make CD's. But if I coulddddd!!!)
THIS song reminds me of being in Chicago with my friend Mario, and we had it BLASTING in the car after Lollapalooza while we waited 20 minutes in the drive through line up for White Castle. I don't know why we were in line for that long, but we were hardly paying attention and dancing our faces off.
"HI MARIO!! YOU'RE AWESOME!"
"Southern Sun" - Paul Oakenfold (DJ Tiesto remix)

Now that you've been introduced to this lovely dreamy world of trance, here's some more recent stuff:
"Ancient World (Roger Shah Long Haul Flight)" - Roger Shah & Signum

And I think everyone can appreciate this one:
"Seek Bromance (Avicii Vocal Edit) - Tim Berg
**Tim Berg IS Avicii BTW, just in case it ever comes up in Quiz Night**

And now that you've heard that, listen to this crunchy remix sent to me by my friend Rod:
"Seek Bromance (Porter Robinson Remix)" - Tim Berg

This is what I JUST listened to. It's pretty. Give it a go.
Matt Zo - Near The End (Original Mix)
