Living Vicariously

Just got some pics back from a shoot.
I've included Marilyn Manson's "Tainted Love" video to go along with the theme.
The party in the vid looks like fun.
I wouldn't mind being in a room full of bunny rabbits but
I'm home baking veggie and gluten-free lasagna, so I'll have to be there in spirit.

I present to you, the beautiful Kelleth, hair and make-up by Monica Kalra, photography by Vasko.
Wardrobe by yours truly.

We are not French

This track is insane.
At first, I wasn't sure if I liked it, but the more I listened to it the more I freaking LOVED it.
It's one of my fav photo shoot songs. It's so gritty and hard.
And the beat drops like a bomb at 1:30

We are NOT French!
Here are some behind the scenes pics from a shoot on Tuesday night.

DARK SIDE

That's me! Screaming like a banshee in the poster above!
Robert K. Chen (jeweler extraordinaire) is presenting his thesis exhibition at OCAD from May 5 to 8.

Darko shot it, and I got to channel Ozzy and Alice and Gene.
(insert devilish grin here)
As usual I like to pair up everything with music, so here you go:

Afterglow

Play this song!!

Now read!! :)
New photos from a very busy weekend!

Kris Josef held a photography workshop on Sunday.
To wrap up the day, the participants had sessions with a model.
I brought a ton of outfits, all light blue, light grey, and cream coloured. Drapey soft fabrics, lace, and selections of lingerie from my collection.

Kathy Sawczuk of Focca Photography attended, and these are her pics!
I'm in love with them. They're so soft and ethereal.
And here is a link to her blog post! --< deleted

I can't wait to see the rest of the photos from the other participants.
When I get a peek at them I'll share them with you!

Have a beautiful day everyone!!

Hugs, Andy

Back in the Swing

My internet is fixed.
My IPhone has arrived.
The lights of heaven have shone down on me and the angels sang.

And although I'm super happy, I also approach this situation with a little apprehension.
You see, I have to catch up on about 3 weeks (or more) of e-mails and messages!!
Looks like I have a lot of coffee to brew!

First things first. Something beautiful and inspiring:

This is a quote by Ella Wheeler Wilcox, an American author and poet.
It is from a flag stone in Jack Kerouak Alley in San Francisco.

Valentine's Day just passed.
I hope everyone had an awesome Valentine's Day weekend!

My Valentine's weekend was awesome!

Starting with the Overexxxposed show on Saturday night:

{photo by AJ Lam, black and white photo of ME by Ward}

Sunday, one of the most relaxing days ever...

Historical documentaries, warm slippers, mugs of tea, the tasty chip crumbs at the bottom of the bag, and basically sleeping in and bumming around...

This PBS documentary about the Medici family from Florence was interesting, but really slow moving.
Here it is if you want to watch it too!

Monday: poutine, beer, and cards night, home-made blueberry pies and food fights!
The poutine at Cadillac Lounge is HUGE!

Here's the pie I made. I didn't use a recipe so I can't tell you how I made it,
BUT
there is an AMAZING recipe for the other pie I made near the bottom of this post.

Blueberries for Vasko's face.

This is Cyrus and Boom Boom.

Cyrus wanted to be Boom Boom's friend, so as a test of his friendship he has to perform 3 tasks.
The first task was to get Sima to say "My favorite dinosaur is a Lickalottapuss".
The second task was to draw a face on Vasko's deep fried fish with ketchup.

That's ketchup mastery if I do say so myself!
And the third task was to do a sexy photo shoot with Peter.

Cyrus and Boom Boom.
Such good friends!

Tuesday, flowers and food at Marben!
Shown below (for all the ravenous foodies out there) is
Taylor's Squash Soup with chantilly cream, croutons, and sage oil
and
Zander's Sage and Brown Butter Gnocchi with squash coulis, brussel sprouts, and shallot rings

Not shown are the oysters and the Beef Cheek Ravioli.

There was also a little something called "Devastating Chocolate Fudge Pie"
which tastes heavenly with Vanilla Ice Cream and Dulce De Leche
(recipe below)

"Devastating Chocolate Fudge Pie"
To make one 9-inch pie:
1 unbaked pie shell, made from 1/2 lb. short-crust dough
3 oz unsweetened baking chocolate
8 tbsp butter
4 eggs
3 tbsp light corn syrup
1 + 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract

In the top of a double boiler over boiling water, heat the chocolate and butter, stirring until melted and blended; allow the mixture to cool slightly. Beat the eggs; blend in the corn syrup, sugar, salt, and vanilla extract. Add the chocolate mixture; blend well. Pour the mixture into the pie shell. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 400' F for five minutes. Reduce the temperature to 350' F and continue baking for 30 minutes, or until the pie is almost, but not quite, firm when shaken.
**Close to the end, I decorated the top of the pie with roasted almonds and marshmallows. Next time, more almonds! They were amazing!**

See what I mean?

AWESOME!!!

Holy Update Batman!

Yup, it's been about ONE week since my last post.

I have a simple cell phone with no internet,
and the only internet I have is at home, on my slow and elderly laptop.

The only internet I have ceased to work last week on Sunday, and last week I lived like a little snail, with my belongings in a little travel luggage,
flitting from place to place, meeting to meeting, appointment to appointment, with no stopping...
I kind of felt like I was on Willy Wonka's scary boat going faster and faster and
fasterandfasterandfaster

Well, now it's Tuesday, and it's February,
and this will have to be a short-ish type of post since the boat has not stopped yet.

I AM waiting for the arrival of my new IPhone
**andy does a dance and jumps up and down in anticipation**
so I WILL have internet and will boost my productivity
(makes me SO HAPPY)

Also, I DO have a follow-up to THIS POST!!!
I have an image from the colourful photo-shoot from two weeks ago,
taken by Peter Finnie of BiffSpandex Photography:

From her TOP SECRET underground lair the omnipotent Andy McParrot plots to take over the world, the universe, and everything!
 MU HA HA!
Which caped crusader is cunning enough to capture her? Which fearless fellow possesses the power to be a formidable opponent?
Only time can tell and humanity must watch and wait, with bated breath...

The sun sun dance

I had a couple of requests for some background stories from my photo shoot pictures.

On our first day of shooting in the Dominican we were taking pics with the sun directly behind me. It gave a really nice halo and glow in all of the other shots, but in some, like this one, it's rays went directly into the lens of the camera, giving it this really lovely glowy effect.

It wasn't intentional and I guess it's kind of blinding, but I thought it looked pretty cool!

McParrot News

I'm getting a lot of e-mail and friend requests on Facebook and all sorts of traffic directed from my blog and my website.

It's kinda cool!
And I'd like thank everyone for their letters and kind words,
for their friend requests, comments, and follows on the blog!

My stats indicate a CRAZY amount of hits per day.

If you would like to join my Facebook fanpage click the link over there to your left!
**please note, I don't accept friend requests to my personal profile**

Now I have to get familiar with it. How does a fan page work?
Updates later, and in the meantime, I hope everyone is having a kick-ass day!

OMG! Shark Attack!!

Sparkly Afternoon

My afternoon shoot with Kris Josef.

I know a lot of people in Facebook Land have seen these,
but all the people in everyday internet land have not.
So, here they are!

Make-up, hair, styling by ME!!

And because I always love to post a song with my pics, here's an awesome sexy track

I'm off to a meeting! Later alligators!

POOPED

Ok, I am officially tired and ready to sleep at 11:00 pm.
This is very unusual since I'm primarily a nocturnal kind of bird.

Today consisted of coffee, chips, and satisfyingly nerdy geography games.
Vasko, Peter, and I shot all morning and afternoon.
To a non-industry person it may seem like a lot of work, but it is WAY more work than a lot.
Especially when you're modeling for it. BECAUSE
in addition to assembling your outfits, doing your hair & make-up, and watching your clothes as you move around (to make sure they look just right in the shot), you are also jumping around like a frog, or a superhero, or a ballerina, and contorting yourself into advanced pretzel yoga positions and then holding them.
(BUT DAMN IS IT FUN)
So I had two workouts today, because after I went to the gym for Pilates and ran for an hour on the treadmill.

That's my day, y'all.
Here are some behind the scenes of me being a goof:

of me being MYSTERIOSO

and of me being all pose-y and sexy-like

YIPPEE!

And just for fun, I will include this Scrabble win from last night's games night.
Check it out! (and yes, we had more letters because we were playing on teams and blah-dee-blah)

Goodnight!
OH! and I have another follower on my blog. Welcome Parotteer! and Hooray!

My Website

My website is a thing of mystery to me.
I don't know how to remove that horrible purple colour.
I don't know how to take off that weird pink swirly thing, or modify the constricting layout.
Basically, I don't know how to cure it from it's ugliness.

So I am taking steps to freshen it up while I wait to get it re-did.
Here's the collage of highlights I created. I'm going to put it on the website in 3, 2, 1.

Ok, I put it up, but it is not workinggggg.

Now I can't cure my website of the "small".
WHY won't it go across the whole screen and fit in that stupid box? Why must this program fight me?
Why am I so computer illiterate?
Why does that frog dance in my head every time someone talks about computer stuff?

This demented ladybug is representative of my mind state right now.

No, I don't know who drew it or where it's from. I don't care. I am going to bed.

Lorem Ipsum

Today I cleaned up my old Model Mayhem profile.

Here's a link to my old modeling profile which I've been "renovating" for the past hour or so.

And I've also been busy setting up a "Wardrobe Stylist" profile since that's what I do, yo.
(it's presently pending approval)

Yippee!

and bugghhh... my mind is going a bit fuzzy at this point. It's time to take a walk.
