Fantasy Farm

Let me take you on a tour of my
imaginary house, and my imaginary garden.

Welcome!

Lavender fields forever.

An old door that leads to the secret garden.

And this mossy walkway leads to a farm house or shed.
What would I keep inside it? The lawnmower? That sounds kind of boring.
Maybe I'd use it for cool gardening things, like drying leaves, and making seeds, and growing baby plants.
Maybe I would have my studio inside.
Or a place to hide the dead bodies use as a guest house.

A girl can dream, right?

25 Things About Me

So this "25 things" activity is floating around. You might enjoy reading this stuff, or maybe not... I wrote this one in 2009, but it's still relevant. I still want chickens, and I still like bees. There's a new one for this year, but I wanted to post this one first for continuity sake.

And here I go. I actually like writing things like this... I know, I'm a major geek...

1. I want chickens. Their names will be Pluck and Cluck. They will live in a coop in my big garden and make eggs. They'll wander around the yard and eat good food and be happy. Happy chickens make healthy eggs. Then they make happy chicken soup.

2. I LOVE cooking.... and yes, I will cook for you... I also have super finely tuned tastebuds and sense of smell... If I eat something good, I will analyze it and then try to recreate it

3. I love Star Trek TNG. I think Captain Jean Luc Picard is hot. I hate his love interests on the show!! :D

4. I don't believe in jealousy or envy. I don't cut down people around me. I am happy when those around me succeed. Their success and happiness inspires and fuels me.

5. Most beautiful compliments: I "esteem to the highest good", and I "have the light of Jah glowing around me".... nice, huh?

6. Campfires are only flames without music. Canoeing in the evening is like flying over the sky.

7. I am allergic to the Rosacea family of fruits: apples, plums, cherries, peaches, pears... They make my lips swell and my throat gets all itchy... no fun

8. I like strawberry picking in the summer. I love corn on the cob. I live for blissful tepid summer evenings when the breeze is the temperature of your skin. I like summer. I like heat. It can never be too hot for me, and I tan like a Mo Fo.

9. Clothes are fun. I like to arrange interesting outfits. Finding amazingly unusual pieces in thrift stores makes me happy.

10. SNACKING! I am the queen of snacks. Treats to eat (of the best quality of course):
hot dogs, chips, ice cream, dark chocolate, cheese, flavored popcorn, green apples, kim chee

11. I physically require a massage. My shoulders dream about it all day long... That's all they talk about... I am so sick of listening to their complaining...

12. I don't care what people say about me. And I really don't. There's a very good quote for this: "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are" ---> constructive criticism and well-meant honesty excluded of course

13. I one of the most honest and loyal people you'll ever meet. I am great at giving advice. I will fight tooth and nail for you. Friends are your chosen family. I am blessed to have such good friends.

14. I am naturally curious, like a 4 year old. I like cute things. I like to explore. I like forts. I like flowers pushing through the ground in the spring. I like baby animals. I like feeling mud between my toes. I like jumping into water with nothing on. I am a feral child. I like frogs. I like scavenger hunts. I like making maps.

15. (What is everyone else writing about on these things? I'm wondering what else to talk about)
My sister is a weirdo like me. She says I am a vintage weirdo. Whatever that means.... :D

16. Yoga is fun. I aspire to be a pretzel.

17. In the summer I carry sidewalk chalk with me. I draw on things. I like seeing random acts of art everywhere.

18. I like bees. Fuzzy bees. When they hover up to a big flower they actually disappear inside it, like they're going into a little house. Bees are awesome. And they're all chicks...

19. Silly hats are the meaning of life. If you have no sense of humor then you will not understand me. We will speak different languages and take no joy in one another.

20. Five exclamation marks, the sure sign of an insane mind !!!!! - Terry Pratchett

21. (4 more left... why did I start this? Are you all bored yet?) When I was younger I had no friends. I used to sit in trees and read. I would explore the garden. I spent a lot of time with my grandparents.

22. My grandparents allowed me to live a golden childhood. Their garden was incredible. All fresh fruits and veggies! My Opa would make a little ice rink in the back yard and I'd skate above the cement patio. He's make igloos with me. In the summer we'd play board games in the nook above the garage. My Oma was an incredible cook. Her plum dumplings are heaven... and guess who has the recipes? ;)

23. If I had one wish it would be to speak, read, and write in every language in the world.

24. I listen to classical music and opera. I love classic rock. I would sell my soul to go back in time to see Led Zeppelin. I would have Jimi Hendrix's love children. I also like all sorts of new stuff. I rarely watch TV or read the papers so I don't know the names of the genres.

25. On my 25th birthday I had an Alice In Wonderland themed party. I had the costume, everyone had to wear hats, and we drank champagne out of teapots and played croquet. I love throwing parties.

And that's all she wrote... Sayonara... et bonne nuit...

IdeaCity Day 3 - The End

These three days were my first three at IdeaCity. I was a new attendee, or a new "Idealist", as they called it. I have ALWAYS wanted to go, having seen bits and pieces of the conferences on TV, so when I was asked to be the correspondent for Panasonic I jumped at the opportunity.

Today, on the last day, I sat close to the back of the room so I could observe my fellow Idealists as we took in the presentations.

Overall, I was impressed with the eloquence and passion of the speakers, and overcome with the level of energy generated in the audience. The theater was brimming with inspiration, an electric hum of activity getting ready to launch change into the world.

Educational. Fascinating. Intelligent. Motivational.

I will take all of this away with me and let it sit for a while. As I wrote on my Facebook wall: "~ if you think I was ambitious and motivated before, well, you ain't seen nothin' yet!! ~"... I already feel the calm before the storm, and it feels nice. I just hope that one day I can be up there on that stage encouraging thought and sharing my experiences, a catalyst of change... I hope that one day I too will be able to inspire people like myself, standing on the shores of their futures, looking out at the horizon, ready to go...

I express my most enthusiastic THANKS for everyone involved in this conference, and everyone allowing for this to happen for me. I hope I have done it justice in this little blogging-report... IdeaCity; a platform for creativity, passion, inspiration, innovation, and of course, IDEAS...

MY list of "10 things I want to do before I die":

1. Live in the south of France for a while, no car, just a bicycle.
2. Drift in a little boat on the pond in Central Park on a golden afternoon
3. Visit Japan during the cherry-blossom festival
4. Publish everything I've written
5. Stop being so critical of myself
6. Use and perfect all the languages I know
7. Finish reading every book on my list
8. Volunteer abroad for months at a time
9. Ride the Orient Express across Asia
10. Have a lot of kids, a lot of land, and no television... (there must also be a pond, a garden, some chickens, a beehive, a tree fort, a giant kitchen, and a studio for me!)
